Dog Sitting
Dog Sitting in Frederick, MD — Care That Fits Your Dog
Some dogs do best in their own house with their own couch. Others would rather be part of a family all week. We offer both, plus everything in between — and we'll tell you honestly which one we'd pick for your dog.
Which kind of dog sitting does your dog need?
"Dog sitting" means different things to different people, and the right answer depends far more on your dog than on your schedule. A confident dog who sleeps sixteen hours a day is perfectly happy with a few visits. A dog with separation anxiety, a puppy who isn't fully house-trained, or a senior on a medication schedule usually needs someone there overnight.
Dawn has cared for dogs in Frederick for years, and the meet & greet exists precisely so nobody has to guess. We come to your home, meet your dog, and talk through what a normal day looks like for them — then recommend the setup we'd actually choose, even when it isn't the most expensive one.
Your three options
Drop-in dog sitting — $25 per visit
We come to your house two to four times a day for feeding, a walk, playtime, yard cleanup, and medications. Your dog keeps their own bed, their own routine, and their own smells. Best for adult dogs who handle alone time well.
Overnight dog sitting — $100 per night
We stay in your home overnight, so your dog is never alone for more than a few hours. Your house looks lived-in too — lights on, mail brought in. Best for anxious dogs, puppies, seniors, and longer trips.
Boarding with our family — $75 per day
Your dog stays at our home in Frederick with a fenced yard and full run of the house. No kennels, no crates of barking strangers. Best for social dogs who'd rather have company than solitude.
The same care in all three
Feeding to your instructions, medications given on time, a real walk every day, and photo updates so you can see your dog is fine instead of hoping so.
How booking works
Free meet & greet
We come to you, meet your dog, and walk through feeding, meds, leash habits, and anything that makes them nervous. No charge and no obligation.
We recommend a setup
Based on your dog — not your dates. If drop-in visits are enough, we'll say so rather than upsell you to overnights.
You get updates the whole time
Photos and a short note after each visit or each day, so you always know how your dog is doing.
Dog sitting is a better fit than a kennel when
- Your dog gets stressed, stops eating, or comes home exhausted after boarding facilities
- You'd rather your dog stay in their own house with their own routine
- Your dog is on medication and you need it given on schedule, not whenever staff get to it
- You have a puppy or a senior who can't be left alone for eight or ten hours
- You want to know who is caring for your dog — the same person, every visit
Common questions
How much does a dog sitter cost in Frederick, MD?
Drop-in dog sitting visits are $25 each, and most dogs need two to four visits a day, so a typical day runs $50–$100. Overnight dog sitting in your home is $100 per night. Boarding at our home is $75 per day for the first dog and $65 for a second. Additional dogs on drop-in visits are $10 each. There's a $5 holiday surcharge around major U.S. holidays, and the meet & greet is always free.
Is dog sitting better than boarding?
For most dogs, staying home is less stressful — no new smells, no other dogs, no kennel noise, and no risk of picking something up from another animal. But it isn't universal. Very social dogs often have a genuinely better week with our family than they would alone in a quiet house. That's what the meet & greet is for: we'll tell you which one we'd choose for your dog.
How many visits a day does a dog need?
Three is the usual answer for an adult dog — morning, midday, and evening — so they're never alone longer than about eight hours overnight. Puppies and seniors generally need four, or an overnight stay instead. Dogs with separation anxiety really shouldn't be left alone overnight at all; we'd steer you to overnight sitting or boarding.
Do you charge extra for a second dog?
Yes, but it's a small flat add-on rather than a doubled rate. Drop-in dog sitting visits and dog walks are $25 for the first dog and $10 for each additional dog on the same visit, so two dogs is $35. Overnight sitting in your home is $100 per night plus $10 for a second dog, and boarding at Dawn's home is $75 per day for the first dog and $65 per day for a second dog.
Do you dog sit overnight in my home?
Yes. Overnight dog sitting is $100 per night and includes evening and morning care, a walk, feeding, medications, and someone in the house all night. It's the closest thing to you being home, and it's what we recommend for anxious dogs and trips longer than a couple of days.
What areas do you cover?
Frederick city and the surrounding area — including Urbana, Middletown, and Walkersville. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just ask; we'll tell you straight away.
